Jazz-pop legend Bob James who defines smooth Jazz, hip-hop and crossover jazz is returning to Hong Kong on February 27th 2019. Tickets will be going on sale on 21st December, 2018.
Bob James has melded jazz with rock, pop, R&B, and classical music. Discovered by the great Quincy Jones in 1963, it wasn’t long after James had begun his quest for greatness with countless awards including multiple-GRAMMY® Awards.
After a career of 50-some years, 50-some solo albums, and collaborations with everyone from jazz greats Grover Washington and George Benson to pop greats Paul Simon and Neil Diamond, James remains a restlessly creative force.
Many of his famous music trends have a profound impact on the hip-hop music, especially since the 80’s and 90’s, so many copies of his recognizable tracks have taken the cult Run – DMC, Eric B. & Rakim, LL Cool J, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Beastie Boys … define Bob James as “father” of the smooth jazz of modern times. He’s also the founding member of the legendary Jazz group – Four Play, which has been popular in the Jazz scene for 28 years.
Long after establishing himself as one of the most accomplished composers, arrangers and instrumentalists, Bob James achieves his longtime ambition to return to the trio format he embraced as an up-and-coming artist.
